After being released from incarceration in August 2024, Kristina Ruff, a U.S. Army Reserve veteran, faced overwhelming challenges. Although she retained legal custody of her children, they were not in her physical care, and she urgently needed stable housing, employment, and a path forward. The transition back into the community was uncertain, and without support, reunification with her children felt out of reach.
Kristina found JVS SoCal’s Veteran Services and was connected to our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, a turning point in her journey. With comprehensive case management and housing support, Kristina secured permanent housing by December. This stability made it possible for her children to be returned to her care, reuniting her family.
Soon after, Kristina achieved another significant goal, securing full-time employment as a Re-entry Case Manager in January 2025.
