Check presentation will take place July 17 at Graduation Event
Los Angeles, CA (July 10, 2018) – Graduates of JVS SoCal’s award-winning HealthWorks® career training program will hear keynote remarks from Lisa Kennedy, Vice President of Operations, Sunrise Senior Living about the expansive opportunities for growth within the healthcare industry. In support of the program’s impact in the community, she and her team will also make a check presentation for $25,000 on behalf of the company.
“Sunrise is excited to present this gift in support of JVS HealthWorks. This check is a reflection of our commitment to Live With Generosity, a program through which Sunrise residents and team members give back to their local communities on an ongoing basis,” says Kennedy. “We’re dedicated to recruiting great team members and helping them advance their careers, and we know that the alumni of this program are excellent candidates to join us as we fulfill our mission to champion quality of life for all seniors. “
HealthWorks is part of the suite of JVSWorks® Career Training Programs that includes ApartmentWorks® and BankWork$®. Since 2006, these three training programs have graduated and placed over 1,460 participants who have earned an aggregate of $56 million in salaries and benefits. With a combination of government, corporate and foundation support, this represents a 750% social return on donor investment.
Since 2002, the JVS HealthWorks Program has been training low-income and underemployed workers to become state licensed Certified Nurse Assistants, the first step on the healthcare career ladder. The training is offered at no cost to eligible applicants thanks to generous corporate and foundation support. Additional funding comes from the State of California Employment Training Panel. To date, JVS SoCal has trained and placed over 600 graduates with local healthcare providers in the community.
“The success of the JVS HealthWorks program is most clearly demonstrated by our alumni, who have continued their studies, received promotions and even gone on to become LVNs and RNs,” says JVS CEO Alan Levey. “To help enDSC_5667.jpgsure the future success of all of our graduates, we recently launched the HealthWorks Career Pathways program to offer our alumni and others at the start of their journeys in the field, with custom career workshops and one on one coaching to encourage and support continued professional growth.”
