Since 1931, JVS SoCal has been helping individuals with barriers to employment find meaningful careers. One of the ways we do this is through our JVSWorks® career training programs, which provide job seekers with the skills, resources, and guidance they need to jumpstart a new career in four growing industries.
These no-cost 8-week training programs in banking, healthcare, non-clinical healthcare, and apartment maintenance prepare individuals for careers with a real path to growth. Since 2006, our four JVSWorks® programs have placed over 2,500 graduates in new jobs, cumulatively putting over $95 million in salaries back into our local communities.

BankWork$
In partnership with top banking institutions, BankWork$ prepares job seekers for positions in the dynamic financial services industry. Through this program, participants learn about policies and procedures, federal regulations, bank products and services, basic accounting skills, financial technology, personal finances, how to build relationships, and much more. BankWork$ graduates find a pathway to fulfilling, lasting careers in a fast-growing field and enjoy a stable income, opportunities for advancement, and benefits.
Jonathon Frank is a BankWork$ alum, and his growth from student to graduate to relationship associate at City National Bank shows how the trajectory of an individual’s life can change with the right training, resources, and support. Since graduating from BankWork$, Jonathon is already making an impact in his organization and his community.
HealthWorks
In partnership with leading healthcare and senior care providers, HealthWorks prepares individuals for careers as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in the rapidly growing healthcare and senior care industries. This vocational program teaches participants the fundamentals necessary to pass California State Certification and secure employment, including core nursing knowledge and essential skill classes where they learn the value of communication, patient service, professional etiquette, and more. When hired, our HealthWorks graduates are a cut above the rest because of the specialized curriculum our program offers, and many of our graduates move on to more advanced training in the healthcare field.
Our HealthWorks program helps individuals like Leslie Martinez gain the skills and confidence they need to pursue a rewarding career in healthcare. These graduates are the frontline, essential workers that are so vital to keeping our communities safe and healthy. And through our HealthWorks program, they receive the training and development needed to provide sound and compassionate care.
CareerWork$ Medical
In partnership with leading healthcare providers, CareerWork$ Medical prepares job seekers for non-clinical positions in hospitals and clinic environments. Through this program, participants learn the fundamentals of healthcare administration, including medical terminology, understanding healthcare insurance, the history of healthcare, and the day-to-day experience of working in healthcare administration. Our graduates go on to become patient service representatives, project coordinators, administrative assistants, billing and insurance representatives, and more for hospitals and healthcare providers.
CareerWork$ Medical empowered Nesha Price to change her life for the better. Before enrolling in the program, Nesha was working a part-time job that did not provide the financial stability she needed and desired. A week after graduating, Nesha was hired as a senior administrative assistant at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and now has the proper tools and knowledge to continue growing in her new career.
ApartmentWorks
In partnership with the National Apartment Association and leading real estate development and property management firms, ApartmentWorks prepares individuals for careers as Certified Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) in the dynamic property management industry. This program teaches participants various skills through accelerated courses in interior and exterior repair, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, and professional development. Our innovative methods, materials, and technology create a positive, hands-on learning experience that helps our ApartmentWorks graduates find job success.
Before finding JVS SoCal, Deborah Alonzo was searching for a new career and unsure of what skills she had to offer beyond the people skills she’d developed after spending many years counseling children in the foster care system. Deborah describes her ApartmentWorks experience as being profoundly successful, having learned so many valuable skills that make her an asset as an employee. Within days of graduating, she was hired as a maintenance technician at Equity Residential and is thriving in her life and her new career.
