LOS ANGELES — Dec. XX, 2024 — JVS SoCal, a leading human services agency focused on workforce development, has named Ernesto Calzado Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Previously, Calzado served as JVS SoCal Interim CFO.
“Ernesto Calzado brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in the for-profit sector. His adaptability and commitment to the mission of JVS SoCal have proven invaluable during his transition into the nonprofit sphere,” said JVS SoCal CEO Jeff Carr.
According to Carr, Calzado’s leadership of the JVS SoCal Finance team during a challenging transitional time period has been transformational, which has strengthened JVS SoCal’s financial foundation as it pursues its mission of empowering individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency and upward mobility.
Prior to joining JVS SoCal, Calzado was a consultant for for-profit companies across industries, including consumer goods, hospitality and technology. He also served as CFO for Cross Border Express, a USA travel terminal facility and binational skybridge operation. Calzado has held top finance positions at Ritz Carlton Hotel and Atlas Telecom Network and has served as IPO Consultant for Burger King.
Calzado’s journey to the United States is marked by resilience and determination. Having emigrated with his family from Cuba to escape political repression, he shares a personal connection with many members of the JVS SoCal community, who also came to the U.S. in search of a better life and greater opportunity. This shared experience enriches Calzado’s role, allowing him to resonate deeply with JVS SoCal’s values and the individuals it serves.
