JVS collaborates with Fellows, Nonprofits to raise funds for workforce development

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 18th, 2020) – On March 12th, JVS SoCal along with six other participating nonprofits partnered with the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) to host The Future Is Working, a Giving Day to develop a stronger workforce for Southern California. Thanks to donors, the 24-hour online effort raised $46,950 for local organization to focus on educating and preparing individuals endeavoring to begin a new career or rejoin the workforce.

The seven nonprofits that participated in the The Future is Working Giving Day include JVS SoCal; Anaheim Family YMCA; Chyrsalis; Community Action Partnership of Orange County; High School, Inc.; Hope Builders and Orange County Conservation Corps.

“For nearly ninety years, JVS SoCal has been at the forefront of workforce development helping high barrier, low-to-moderate income individuals with over 40 programs and services. We are grateful to the Orange County Community Foundation and the six other NPO’s, as well as our respective donors, that have come together to raise critical funds to assist those most in need. Thank you to all who participated in The Future Is Working, Giving Day campaign,” Randy Lapin, SVP Philanthropy JVS SoCal.

The OCCF streamlined the The Future Is Working campaign by providing marketing assets, campaign resources and collaborating with the seven nonprofits. Throughout 2020, collaborative Giving Days will be a focus for local nonprofits to meet community needs.

“Through collaboration, we are helping local nonprofits invest in the equity of our region and build pathways to success for future generations to secure a living wage in the middle-skills job market,” said Shelley Hoss, president and CEO, OCCF. “We’re beyond grateful to our generous community for uniting to make this first-ever The Future Is Working Giving Day focused on education and workforce development a huge success.”

In a series of collaborative Giving Day events, Orange County nonprofits have raised more than $8 million dollars. OCCF inaugural i🖤oc Giving Day in 2015, raised more than $1.8 million for 347 participating nonprofits in just 30 hours. After restructuring i🖤oc in 2018, 2019’s Giving Day raised more than $1.6 million for eight local nonprofits by expanding the opportunity for nonprofits to connect and collaborate in support of their shared missions.

Additional collaborative Giving Days will be announced over the coming year. For more information, please visit oc-cf.org/iheartoc.
