ImagingWorks, a new, paid career training program in medical diagnostic imaging kicked off its first cohort on September 9, in Los Angeles.
This innovative program is specifically designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a bone densitometry (DEXA) credential and perform as an MRI Tech Aide. With a focus on hands-on training and real-world experience, ImagingWorks was created in partnership with radiology industry leader RadNet. The 12-week course and paid on-the-job training aims to prepare individuals for successful careers in radiology and healthcare more broadly.
“It’s a proud moment here for both JVS SoCal and RadNet to be standing in front of you and discussing your future, not only for your benefit, but for the benefit of our patients and for the benefit of healthcare,” said Dr. Howard Berger, co-founder, president, and Chief Executive Officer of RadNet in a welcoming message to students.
The inaugural class of ImagingWorks represents a diverse group of motivated individuals eager to embark on this exciting educational journey. Through a rigorous curriculum and expert instruction, students will have the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in medical imaging techniques and procedures. The program’s comprehensive approach is geared towards fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and professionalism in aspiring healthcare professionals. ImagingWorks is accredited by the California Department of Public Health Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB).
“I want to thank Dr. Howard Berger and Karen Kaplan-Berger for their generosity,” said Jeff Carr, JVS SoCal’s Chief Executive Officer, “none of this would be possible were it not for the two of them and their generosity.”
As the demand for skilled imaging technicians continues to rise, JVS SoCal is committed to bridging the gap between education and industry needs. “By providing students with the necessary tools and resources to excel in their field, ImagingWorks is poised to make a significant impact on the healthcare sector,” JVS SoCal’s Chief Program Officer Kim Fedrick, stated. “We look forward to witnessing the achievements and successes of our first cohort as they embark on this transformative learning experience.”
This first session enrolled nearly 40 students who will receive the 12-week training at RadNet’s clinical facilities across southern California. More than 500 candidates applied for the inaugural ImagingWorks session.
In subsequent phases, JVS SoCal intends to offer ultrasound and MRI technologist training under the Imaging Works umbrella, as well as a more complex accreditation by issuing associate degrees for radiologic technologists through additional partnerships.
