Last week First Citizens Bank team members spent an afternoon with JVS SoCal’s program participants providing resume feedback, mock interview support, and valuable career advice in a volunteer event organized by the bank’s Women Together business resource group members.
“First Citizens Bank fundamentally believes in growing talent and providing opportunities for people to move up within our business,” says Business Resource Group lead, Kelly Klopping, “Volunteering with JVS SoCal gives us the opportunity to give positive feedback to people, whether they are in the early stages of their career or transitioning to a new career, and help them grow.”
The purpose of the event, which took place on June 3, 2024, at the West Los Angeles America’s Job Center of California / WorkSource Center in Culver City was to help build the confidence and skills of job seekers who are completing JVS SoCal’s CareerWork$ Medical course, a free program that prepares participants for non-clinical careers in the medical industry.
“JVS SoCal offers various support for our program participants,” says JVS SoCal’s Donor Groups Coordinator Zsofia Slovak. “Having organizations like First Citizens Bank volunteering their time and knowledge in addition to their financial contributions, adds value to our program offerings and strengthens our partnership.”
First Citizens Bank has supported JVS SoCal for over 10 years and is a trusted employer partner for JVS SoCal’s no-cost financial services industry course graduates, BankWork$. During the event, students had the opportunity to practice their elevator speech, interact face-to face with hiring managers, and receive relevant feedback from experienced professionals.
The Women Together BRG is one of six associate-led business resource groups within the bank focused on fostering an inclusive culture and workplace.
