For Emely Ventura, pursuing a career in healthcare was always a dream—but one that felt just out of reach. As a young woman balancing financial pressure, self-doubt, and uncertainty about her next steps, Emely faced barriers that made advancing her career feel overwhelming. She knew she wanted to help others, but without access to affordable training or clear guidance, the path forward was unclear.
Emely was working as a behavioral technician. While meaningful, the role offered limited growth and stability. She wanted more, not just for herself, but for her future. “I knew I needed something that would allow me to grow, feel secure, and truly make a difference,” she says.
One of Emely’s biggest obstacles was confidence. Returning to a structured learning environment felt intimidating, especially after time away from school. Financial barriers also weighed heavily; like many aspiring healthcare workers, paying for certification training on her own was not an option.
HealthWorks changed everything.
Through JVS SoCal, Emely gained access to our no-cost Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training, removing the financial burden that had been holding her back. Just as important, she found a supportive environment that encouraged her to believe in herself. Instructors and staff offered guidance, accountability, and reassurance, helping her push past self-doubt and stay focused on her goals.
The program’s hands-on training and real-world preparation helped Emely build both skills and self-esteem. “I learned that I was capable of more than I thought,” she adds. “Every challenge I overcame made me stronger.”
Emely successfully completed the program and earned her CNA certification, a milestone that once felt impossible. Today, she is stepping into the healthcare field with pride, stability, and a renewed sense of purpose. She now sees healthcare not just as a job, but as a long-term career with opportunities to grow and continue learning.
Looking back, Emely credits HealthWorks with helping her break through the barriers that once defined her journey.
“This program didn’t just train me, it gave me confidence and direction,” explains Emely.
