JVS SoCal statement on the Los Angeles wildfires

Southern California is facing an unprecedented emergency throughout our region that is impacting all of us in one way or another.

JVS SoCal stands in solidarity with all those directly affected by the fires. Our hearts are with the individuals, families, and communities who have lost everything in  this devastating event. We are committed to supporting recovery efforts and providing assistance to help rebuild lives and livelihoods. Together, we will persevere.

These tragic events have affected our own employees, board members, clients, donors and others, who have been either evacuated from their homes or worse.

For employers and businesses that have been hit by closures or destruction, JVS SoCal has services available through our rapid response programs at America’s Job Centers of California/Worksource center in West L.A. Contact us at employers@jvs-socal.org

If you are a veteran or know a veteran in need, our teams are on standby to support you with rapid rehousing, mental health or employment resources. Contact us at veterans@jvs-socal.org

Similarly, if you have been placed on furlough, or lost your employment — we are here to help. Our job seeker services range from placement and readiness support to re-training or paid work experiences. Contact us at ajcc@jvs-socal.org

JVS SoCal has complied a list of general resources from shelter and food to legal services that may be helpful at this time.

I want to thank all our employees and supporters who do so much to help thousands of people in our region, and we stand together with you as we confront these difficulties as a community.

All the best,

Jeff
