Dear Friends and Family,
As we approach another year of remembering our beloved Debbie through the Debra J. Roth Family and Friends Tribute Scholarship, we are filled with gratitude and purpose. Your continued support has made an incredible impact, with last year’s campaign raising nearly $22,000 to support eight remarkable scholars. This success is a testament to Debbie’s enduring legacy and our community’s generosity.
Recently, Barbara attended the JVS SoCal Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles, and it was truly moving. Meeting the recipients and seeing how our donations are making a real difference brought home the impact of this program. It’s exactly what Debbie would have wanted – supporting ambitious young people in pursuing their dreams.
As we find ourselves in a crazy and tumultuous year, we are reminded that education can be a unifying force. This scholarship program offers a bipartisan way to make a meaningful difference in young people’s lives. Your contributions are having a tangible, visible impact.
Debbie, as many of you know, was a brilliant lawyer who graduated from Stanford. She was dedicated to her career while raising two incredible daughters – now a veterinarian and an independent filmmaker. Debbie always emphasized the value of education, a legacy that lives on through this scholarship.
Your Gifts At Work!
I’m excited to share with you just a few of the remarkable students who are benefiting from your generous donations from last year. Below, you’ll find photos and brief descriptions of three of our eight scholarship recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year. Your contributions this year will go towards supporting next year’s deserving students.
Chloe is embarking on her fourth year at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in preparation for a career as a teacher.
Bailey is embarking on her fourth year at Fordham University. She is pursuing a PhD in preparation for a career as a Professor of Education.
Alexis is embarking on her third year at Loyola Marymount University. She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in preparation for a career as an attorney.
These bright young scholars represent the future that Debbie always believed in – a future where education opens doors and empowers people to make a difference in the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for being part of our extended family. Your kindness and support mean the world to us, and I know Debbie would be deeply touched by the way her memory continues to inspire and create opportunities for others.
With love and gratitude,
Barbara and Ron Lang
