Recognition for Providing Career Support for Women in the Defense Sector
August 19, 2024, Los Angeles – JVS SoCal is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Flag Award from the Women in Defense of Greater Los Angeles Chapter (WID-GLAC) in the Community category. The award was presented at the WID-GLAC Red, White, and Blue event on August 17, 2024. This recognition highlights JVS SoCal’s dedication to supporting women reservists through quality career services, enabling them to succeed in their military careers.
Joanna Speed, President of WID-GLAC, emphasized the organization’s commitment to engaging, cultivating, and advancing women in all aspects of national security. She commended JVS SoCal for its efforts in providing essential career services to women in the defense sector.
Jeff Carr, Chief Executive Officer of JVS SoCal, expressed gratitude for the award on behalf of the hardworking Veterans Services team, “Many of our program participants who are reservists benefit from the flexibility and understanding from the employers we connect them with of their commitment to the armed forces.” He highlighted the team’s outstanding collaboration with organizations that support women in defense, underscoring JVS SoCal’s commitment to empowering women in the military and defense industries. “Cultivating partnerships with organizations like Northrop Grumman and the Call of Duty Endowment allows us to serve women committed to the security and advancement of our nation, which makes us immensely proud.”
