LOS ANGELES, CA (November 11th, 2020) –The JVS SoCal Veteran Services Division was awarded a $100,000 grant from The Boeing Company in November 2020 infusing the division with funds to bring enhanced career development activities that connects Veterans to industry leaders, career counselors, training providers and cutting-edge job search tools to successfully launch their civilian careers. This model includes career pathway workshops delivered by industry experts, individual career guidance and the critical tools needed to create a strong digital brand.
“Boeing has been a proud partner of JVS SoCal for 10 years,” said Tamika Lang, Senior Manager, Southwest Region. “The value that service members and Veterans bring to their jobs and communities is nearly unmatched. They have invaluable, hard-earned skills. Yet, according to the iCIMS Veteran’s Hiring Report, 47 percent of Veterans avoid mentioning military experience on their resumes. At Boeing, we’re working to change that. It is programs like those JVS SoCal delivers that will help us to do so.”
Over the next two years, the goal is to reach more than 500 new Veterans and spouses with access to these services. This model will generate $18.2 million in economic impact in our regional economy, setting a precedent for Veteran service providers in Southern California.
“This is a game-changer for us,” said John Gutierrez (USMC), Deputy Director of JVS SoCal Veteran Services. “This incredibly generous grant from Boeing elevates our Center, positioning us to offer more to thousands of Veterans making the transition from military to civilian life, providing them with the resources they need to find sustainable employment.”
